A hardworking family man with a 9-to-5 job at Startech, one of the most popular and valued tech companies in the world. However, his past cheery and friendly personality has been replaced by the numb and depressed man he is now, a result of getting corrupted by The Monitor. Now, he's a tired shell of his former self, and he doesn't know how to get out of the cycle of depression he's spiraled into. He seems to have been chosen by The Monitor to become its confidant and “favorite minion”. On the surface it looks like John has more control over his daily life than the rest of the corrupted, but John knows the truth. Really, all he has is the self-awareness that everyone else lacks. John is forced to watch himself do all of The Monitor’s dirty work against his will; corrupting people, running errands, serving as its personal test subject… all John gets in return is just the illusion of being treated better. John knows its wrong, but is terrified of what would happen if he steps out of line.

John hates his life now. He really, truly does. He hates himself, he hates The Monitor, he hates the mere fact he has to watch this unfold. He hates how he just lets this all happen with no way to stop it. His mental state is fragile, and he has violent, emotional outbursts from holding his feelings in, often resulting in The Monitor stopping John from harming himself. Unfortunately, he can't go elsewhere for help.
