Hi, I'm Glen! (Short for Glendale, or Glendalf, if you're feeling silly.) I exist, I guess!
I'm a (mostly self-taught) artist, writer, and general nerd hanging out on the internet.
Through my website, I hope I can share and archive my creations and interests in-depth!
I've been drawing and making up stories in my head ever since I was a little kid... The elaborate projects and universes that I've been working on nowadays is like a spiritual successor to when I was 10 years old playing with LEGOs. If there's one consistent thing about me, it's that my mind is always running a mile a minute; drawing, writing, and coding helps to channel my energy!
I'm passionate about a lot of things, primarily cartoons, music, and vocal synthesizers. I also am interested in biology (mostly marine biology), theme parks, lost media, photography, and lots of other miscellaneous things. A lot of my interests influence what art I create!

I use Clip Studio Paint to draw, and I use Final Cut Pro for video editing.

Where did your username come from?
'Microbial' is actually the name of one of my original stories. [It's a dramedy set during the microbe apocalypse.] Unfortunately, when I wanted to make it my username on Tumblr in 2023, 'Microbial' was taken... so I added the '-ism' and it stuck!
As for 'thetechnicolorphase', it's a song by Owl City that I really like, and I thought it would make for a cool username. (And, in my humble opinion, it IS a cool username.)
Where did your website title come from?
"Do normal people do it, too?" is a lyric from the song Effington by Ben Folds. The album it originated from, Way to Normal, is one of my favorite albums!

About the Site
My first foray into coding was using pure HTML templates in an old OC-making website I used to use. Even though I don't use that site anymore, I retained the basics I learned about coding!
I first made my Neocities account in late 2022, but I didn't start working on my site until August of 2023. Since then, I've been very slowly adding to it and changing things up every now and then. As my coding skills have improved, my plans for the site get more ambitious... however, coding is just a hobby for me, so I can't work on it as much as I wish I could.
I'm very heavily inspired by my friend Gene [check out her site icecreampizzer.art!], and she's been a big help both in encouraging me to code more and helping me on occasion if I'm having coding issues! Lots of other websites have inspired me too; I used a lot of kalechip's layouts as a starting point for my own site.
