PHINEAS AND FERB

Hopefully, you know what Phineas and Ferb is. But if you somehow DON'T, Phineas and Ferb is a Disney cartoon created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh that ran from 2007 to 2015. It centers on the titular Phineas and Ferb, brothers and best friends who want to make the most of their summer vacation, so they spend all their time building crazy contraptions and dreaming up something different every day. Various of their activities include making a massive rollercoasters (twice!) and robots, travelling in time, or becoming rock stars. The sky's the limit for them, and even then, they've travelled into space more than once. They're always accompanied by their friends Isabella (who has a massive, obvious crush on Phineas), Baljeet (a nervous, enthusiastic nerd) and Buford (a stereotypical bully who is actually much nicer and more eccentric than meets the eye). However, Phineas and Ferb's older sister, Candace, constantly tries to "bust" the boys by showing off their contraptions to their mom, who never sees what goes down during the day. Candace is frantic and obsessive, but she genuinely loves her brothers and simply has a strong sense of justice. In each episode, unbeknownst to Phineas and Ferb, their pet platypus Perry (who "doesn't do much") sneaks off to fight crime as Agent P. He has to thwart "evil" Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who is an ambitious and eccentric but incompetent divorced scientist. At the end of every episode, Dr. Doofenshmirtz's "inators" get destroyed by Perry, which affects Phineas and Ferb's big ideas, and Candace can never prove Phineas and Ferb to be up to anything to her mom... and the cycle repeats.

Phineas and Ferb has 4 seasons, 2 movies, and TWO MORE SEASONS in the works (I'M SO EXCITED FOR THOSE BTW)! The show may sound repetitive, but every episode is still engaging even with the same general plot structure. Plus, all the little catchphrases in each episode are VERY memorable. When the cycle gets interrupted, it can be really interesting to see how it affects everyone! The writing is amazing, and almost every episode has at least one song in it, and all the songs are SO. Good. There's really no "low point" of the series, I think what I like vs. what other people like may just be preference. WATCH IT IF YOU CAN!!! You will not regret it! Take advantage of the fact that this is one of the few TV shows that Disney is still putting faith into lately.

If you really liked Phineas and Ferb, it's worth checking out the other shows from the same creators! Both Dan and Swampy co-created Milo Murphy's Law- a show about a middle schooler who is cursed with Murphy's Law (what can go wrong will go wrong). It has two seasons, got cancelled on a cliffhanger, and even has a crossover with PnF! Season 1 of MML is AMAZING, I very highly reccomend watching it!!! Also, Dan Povenmire created the show Hamster and Gretel, a show about a girl and her hamster getting superpowers. It wasn't really my thing, but I've heard it gets fun, so go make sure to support both of the creators other projects!

MY THOUGHTS

For anyone who doesn't know, Phineas and Ferb is my favorite piece of media EVER. I don't think that will ever, ever change. I grew up with it, it's a huge part of my vocabulary, the entire reason I am online is because of this show! I cannot understate how much this show means to me. It was a friend to me when I didn't have friends, it helped me MAKE friends, it helped me develop my art, it's the ultimate comfort for me. Whenever I'm down, I know I can just put on Phineas and Ferb, and I will feel better immediately. It's one of the few TV shows I've watched in its entirety multiple times (I've had to have watched the full show eight times through or so, and that's not including the hundreds of times I've looped individual episodes!). I reference the show allll the time, have all the songs memorized, etc...

As I mentioned, I grew up watching the show. It was unavoidable if you watched Disney Channel in 2009 and onwards. Conveniently, I was one of those people! I remember Gitchee Gitchee Goo being really popular, I would watch clips, at California Adventure they even had a little performance with some of the characters and songs. However, despite growing up with and enjoying the show, it actually wasn't until 2016 when I got into it to the level I am now. The fixation started on vacation, in a hotel, Phineas and Ferb being the only thing on the hotel TV I recognized. After watching it, I particularly liked the songs in those episodes so I downloaded them to a cheap Android phone I had just to listen to music. While I was away, I thought about the show more than I ever had... and then thought about it EVEN MORE... when I got home, I immediately started listening to the entire soundtrack and started to watch the whole show with my brother since it was still on Netflix at the time. I was hooked! All I could do, think, speak for a very very long time was Phineas and Ferb. It didn't help a few months later Milo Murphy's Law came out, so I was double hooked. I had all this content from a long-running show to enjoy!

Since 2016, I have not stopped loving this show. Even when I'm not actively fixating on it, I think about it a lot! Mention it around me, and I am summoned to talk about it. I have an ever-growing merch collection full of T-shirts, plushies, and other various items I've found. My projects (primarily Outcast Chaos) have been heavily influenced by PnF, my sense of humor and music taste, too. It's affected a lot of aspects of my life! So yeah, in short, this show is the single most important piece of media to me. I won't shut up about it. When Season 5 comes out, it's over for ALL OF YOU.

FAN ART GALLERY

Here is a collection of PnF fanart I've made through the years! Most of it is from 2016 and 2020, the major times I fixated on PnF, but there's some assorted stuff too.
