CORRUPTION

WARNING! This story has themes of abuse and some horror elements!

Proceed with caution!

In the bustling city of Las Solas, a technological threat has been crafting a plan that is only now starting to come to fruition. As... something starts to spread like wildfire in the town, only young student Jordan Aberson starts to see between the cracks of what anyone would consider to be just normal, daily life. Being forced to run from the incoming threat, Jordan starts finding themself in a rabbit hole that goes much, much deeper than they'd ever expect. And worst of all, they don't know just how many eyes are really on them.

Meanwhile, John Aberson, a buisnessman at the esteemed tech company Startech finds himself in a precarious and stressful situation; he is forced to work for the same technological threat endangering everything he knows and loves, all while trying his best to keep up a facade of normalcy to make sure Jordan doesn't find out the truth of what he's had to do. Unfortunately, his sanity is slipping and his emotions are getting harder to control each day he steps inside his office.

MEET THE CHARACTERS

HISTORY

This is my second major story I started to work on, and it's got quite the rich history! The idea for the story actually came from a weird dream I had in November 2021, with Jordan and the very vauge idea of The Monitor. There were two specific scenes between Jordan and another character that showed up in my dream, and I thought they were interesting enough to elaborate on. Honestly, the whole story revolves mostly about what leads up to one of those specific scenes, because it was so vivid in my mind! Can't explain what said scene is; it's kind of spoilery, hahaha. Corruption as a story hasn't changed TOO much; originally the story was meant to take place in the 80s, but I changed my mind because I was way too lazy to make things historically accurate so now it takes place in modern times (but very much has aspects of an 80s aesthetic influence). I've got most of Corruption planned out in my head, but unlike Outcast Chaos, I haven't actually written a lot of it. Only a few parts in the middle of the story I've actually written out. I'll change that some day...

I feel like Corruption was the perfect opportunity for me to write a darker story; from the practice in writing horror and vauge ideas I got from my very very early ideas for Outcast Chaos, I decided to make this story have a different tone from Outcast Chaos altogether. There are very heavy themes of abuse in The Monitor's relationship with, like, every character (ESPECIALLY John) and in general the characters have to go through a lot more and aren't as silly funny. There's some fun moments at the beginning, but it doesn't last too long. But this is still a story about love, and family, and coping; things won't stay horrible, I'll just say that. However, it is fun to write angst and make all my friends mad at The Monitor.

Side note, but Corruption has and is a temporary name. I have been phsyically unable to think of another name that fits, but I really don't like Corruption as a name, I think it is too... boring. If anyone has any name suggestions PLEASE tell me.
